The throughline in his work utilizes a fusion of psychedelic themes and richly textured palettes, and his signature lens-based style is enigmatic, atmospheric, and metaphysical – much like the Munky himself. + His ethos is driven by his desire to learn and be uncomfortable. He continuously seeks to apply his foundation in motion design to new mediums, with new collaborators. His early Flash and Motion Design work set the bar for experimentation in the medium and has been studied in schools internationally for over two decades. His projection-mapping opus BOX is one of the most viral short films ever made and won prestigious awards including the Cannes Grand Prix and Siggraph’s Best in Show. He produced one of the world's most iconic image campaigns with the Microsoft Windows 10 desktop wallpaper, seen by over a billion people worldwide. He pioneered early Augmented Reality concepts by designing the holographic content in science-fiction pillars Tron: Legacy and Oblivion. His full-spectrum photography series InfraMunk has inspired an entire generation of artists and has been published worldwide in numerous print and online platforms including Fubiz, DesignBoom, and&nbsp;Engadget. Led by GMUNK as Chief Creative Officer, the studio expands by assembling and directing some of the best motion designers and visual artists in the world, forming bespoke teams tailored to each project. This structure allows the studio to operate at global scale while maintaining a singular creative vision and a high level of craft. The studio is driven by an ethos of reinvention. Most recently, GMUNK Studio delivered 235 fully realized shots for Disney’s tentpole feature TRON: Ares, released in October 2025. The studio also created key visual work for NASA’s Europa Clipper mission, a campaign tied to the spacecraft’s October 2024 launch on its journey to explore Jupiter’s icy moon Europa, where conceptual imagery and immersive visuals were developed to highlight the mission’s scale and ambition. In the live performance space, the studio created visual campaigns for eight songs in Eric Prydz’s Holosphere 2.0 tour in Ibiza, as well as four songs for Billie Eilish’s 2024 World Tour, delivering large-scale, technically demanding visuals for global audiences. The brief was simple and ambitious: design an immersive artwork that could live outdoors, directly in the sand, surrounded by wind, tide, and a constantly shifting crowd. The result was a live laser installation inspired by the Aurora Borealis, transforming the shoreline into a drifting light phenomenon during one of the most culturally charged weeks of the year. The installation imagines the Rivian R1&nbsp;as the quiet center of that phenomenon. Set directly on the sand, the vehicle becomes a kind of beacon, surrounded by soft dunes, rolling atmosphere, and layered bands of teal and violet light that move like a grounded aurora. The color palette pulls directly from the R1’s Borealis purple finish, allowing the light to feel native to the vehicle rather than applied to it. The color palette comes from the R1’s custom paint finish, which helps the light feel native to the vehicle rather than applied to it. “Lasers were chosen for their intensity and clarity. They maintain sharpness outdoors, even with environmental drift, and allow the light to feel physical and intentional.” The dunes shape the air currents, the haze becomes the medium the beams travel through, and the R1 acts as the anchor of the entire experience. The inspiration is rooted in translating the invisible qualities of electric power into something the audience can feel in their body. There was a softness to it, but also a monumental presence that filled the entire field of view and altered your perception of space. That duality, delicate yet powerful, ephemeral yet overwhelming, was endlessly compelling to me and became the emotional foundation of the work. Using lasers and fog allowed us to echo those qualities in a very intentional and controlled way. Lasers created vertical architectures of light that felt precise and sculptural, while the haze gave those structures volume, texture, and breath. As the atmosphere shifted, the light responded, revealing depth through overlap, translucency, and movement. Together, they formed an environment where light was no longer a point source or a surface treatment, but something spatial, immersive, and bodily felt. “The beams could rise, drift, and overlap like auroral curtains, revealing layers that appeared and disappeared depending on where you stood.” That idea of light as an environment became the foundation of the work. Amid the intensity and momentum of Art Basel, the installation was designed to offer a moment of suspension. Extensive previs, spatial mapping, and choreography shaped a structure that could respond to wind, tide, and human presence without losing coherence. The sequence moved between surges of energy and moments of stillness, allowing the piece to breathe and remain alive. Limited to one hundred Voyagers, the expedition brought together artists, scientists, explorers, and cultural figures whose work has shaped contemporary understanding of our planet and beyond. Moving through the Galápagos as a temporary floating community, the voyage fostered deep exchange through lived experience rather than spectacle, positioning artistic research alongside scientific exploration. Throughout the journey, GMUNK worked within this rare environment of proximity and dialogue. Days unfolded through intimate encounters with place and people, from traversing volcanic shorelines to sharing meals and conversations with figures such as Neil deGrasse Tyson, Kathryn Sullivan, William Shatner, Beth Shapiro, Paul Oakenfold and Chai Vasarhelyi. These moments of exchange occurred within the living laboratory of the Galápagos Islands itself, where ecological systems remain both fragile and profoundly expressive. From sunrise to starlight, the rhythm of the voyage shaped the work. Mornings began in stillness as light touched the horizon, followed by immersive landings on remote beaches, encounters with endemic wildlife, and explorations of crystalline coves. During the Future of Space Voyage, he tuned into this frequency, where evolution and imagination intersect. Through full-spectrum photography, GMUNK reached beyond ordinary sight, capturing unseen wavelengths and hidden spectra that revealed structures imperceptible to the naked eye. Central to the work was a three-way collaboration between the artist, nature, and a machine-learning technique known as Breathing, which introduced an artificial yet harmonious rhythm into the imagery. This process established a symbiotic relationship between organic growth and algorithmic pulse, producing a hypnotic fusion of the biological and the technological, where landscapes appeared to respond to a gentle computational cadence. Using complex algorithms, these captures were transformed into surrealist mutations, extensions of nature’s raw pulse unfolding into new and improbable forms. Pixels became cellular units, subdividing and multiplying through a process akin to digital mitosis, guided by the breathing technique. The resulting compositions echo the vitality of living ecosystems while mirroring the gradual awakening of perception itself. This work operates as both transfiguration and meditation, a digital microcellular bloom shaped by machine intelligence and the intuitive spirit of the natural world. In this way, the project moves beyond documentation toward communion, articulating an evolving dialogue between the organic and the synthetic, and revealing the luminous structures that underlie life
